A memory quilt from their clothing
6 min read
From shirts, scarves, and dresses a blanket can hold warmth and touch for the family.
Choose fabric from clothing that carries a story. You do not need to use everything. One shirt or a few handkerchiefs may be enough.
Someone who sews, or a local maker, can help shape the design calmly.
Time and expectations
A quilt takes time. It does not have to be ready on the funeral day. Place it on the coffin, show a photo, or give it later to children.
Agree who will keep the quilt so it does not become a source of tension.
A gentle presence at the service
Fold the quilt visibly but without overwhelming the space. A note about who made it explains the gesture.
